We have an extensive background developing Electronic Books, or "eBooks" for the Microsoft Reader using OverDrive® ReaderWorks. We were one of the few eBook developers to work with ReaderWorks.com to help publish the initial eBooks used in the first Barnes and Nobel Electronic Bookstore. text appear crisp and clear on LCD screens. The Glassbook Reader allows you to "sharpen" the text, and the backlight makes it easy to read using the Rocket eBook.
What type of book can I read in eBook format? eBooks are available in every category and genre, from bestsellers to classic works.
Can I order eBooks by phone?
Because of the digital nature of this product, you can only order eBooks online.
Will publishers ever allow eBooks to be sold for less than print books?

Microsoft Reader FAQs
What is My Microsoft eBook Account?
Your Microsoft eBook Account is a page online that stores all of the eBooks you have purchased from Barnes & Noble.com in Microsoft Reader format. From this
page you can download your eBooks twice. Sign into your bn.com account from your computer at home and download titles you already have on your desktop at work!
What is the average size of a Microsoft Reader file? Microsoft Reader titles are quite small and range from 200 KB for a short to
medium length book to 600 KB for a longer work. As an example, a 300-page novel is approximately 250 KB as a Microsoft Reader file.
What is activation and why do I have to activate Microsoft Reader in order to read certain books? Many publishers require powerful copy protection for their eBook titles. In order
for you to be able to purchase and download eBook titles that have been secured for distribution, you first need to activate your Microsoft Reader. Just as
a credit card typically must be activated by a bank before use, your Microsoft Reader needs to be activated before you can purchase and read eBooks packaged for secure distribution.
Why are there some books that I can purchase for Microsoft Reader for the PC, but not for Microsoft Reader on the Pocket PC?
Titles that have been secured for distribution at the highest level of security require hardware functionality on the client that the Pocket PC does not yet
provide. However, titles offered at lesser levels of security can be read on the Pocket PC.
Why can't I see the eBooks I downloaded from the Free eBooks promotion
pages in My Microsoft eBook Account? Only eBooks that you have purchased will appear in Your Microsoft eBook Account. (Exception: The dictionary will always be downloadable from My
Microsoft eBook Account.) |
